Julie Laine currently holds the position of Senior Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer for Comcast Cable and Vice President, Chief Transaction Compliance Officer and Senior Deputy General Counsel for Comcast Corporation.  As the compliance leader for Comcast Cable, Julie is responsible for leading the company’s efforts for ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies and establishing standards and implementing procedures to ensure that the compliance programs throughout the organization are effective in identifying, preventing, detecting and correcting noncompliance with applicable rules and regulations and company policies and procedures.  Julie also oversees Comcast’s compliance with the governmental and third-party conditions and commitments arising from the Comcast NBCUniversal transaction and for coordinating NBCUniversal’s compliance with those requirements. 

Julie previously spent 13 years at Time Warner Cable Inc., most recently in the position of Group Vice President & Chief Counsel, Regulatory, where she oversaw a team responsible for all legal and regulatory matters relating to the company’s deployment of video, high speed data, telephony, telecommunications, and wireless services. 

Julie was also previously Associate General Counsel at Net2Phone, an IP telephony company, and also served as an Attorney Advisor in the Policy Division of the Federal Communications Commission’s Common Carrier Bureau, where she worked on issues relating to local telephone competition, the deployment of broadband services, and telecommunications mergers.  Prior to joining the FCC, Julie practiced law at McDermott, Will & Emery, in Washington, D.C.  She began her law career as a law clerk in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. 

Julie previously served as an Adjunct Professor at the Seton Hall Law School, where she taught legal research and writing.  She is a member of Women in Cable & Telecommunications and a graduate of the Betsy Magness Leadership Institute.  Julie is also a member of the Federal Communications Bar Association and is co-chair of the FCBA’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter. She also serves on the Board of Women’s Way in Philadelphia and sits on the Trustees Counsel of Penn Women.

Julie is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the College of William & Mary Law School.
