Comcast Wins Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award

Comcast today announced that it received an Emmy® Award for Technology & Engineering from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) for its work on virtualized Cable Modem Termination Systems (vCMTS).
Network demand continues to grow as more video traffic transitions to IP delivery and video telecommunications remain critical to people’s lives. vCMTS technology is a key innovation in enabling Comcast to efficiently scale out networks to meet this demand.

Comcast was also recognized with Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award for Sports Viewing Innovation. This year’s recipients will be honored at the 74th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy® Awards Ceremony scheduled for Sunday, April 16th at the Wynn Hotel.
Over the past several years, Comcast has won a number of Technology & Engineering Emmy® Awards. In 2021, Comcast received four awards, including for large-scale deployment of server-side ad manipulation and/or playout for adaptive bitrate video distribution; development of the event signaling and management (ESAM) API standard; pioneering deployment of the event signaling and management (ESAM) API; and development and pioneering deployment of synchronized local DMA advertising capability for DBS MVPD’s. In 2018, Comcast received a Technology & Engineering Emmy® Award for Standardization of HTML5, Encrypted Media Extensions (EME) and Media Source Extensions (MSE) for a Full TV Experience and in 2017 was recognized for Contextual Voice Navigation for Discovering and Interacting with TV Content for the Xfinity X1 Voice Remote.
