Comcast NBCUniversal Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Thousands of Hours of Free Content

There’s no denying the impressive impact and contributions Latinos have made to the fabric of the U.S. Recently released U.S. Census data further underscores the vibrancy and diversity of Latino culture and how the community, which is growing at record rates in the U.S. – accounting for more than half of U.S. population growth in the last 10 years – has become more diverse than ever before.

At Comcast NBCUniversal, we believe a diverse, equitable and inclusive company is a more innovative and successful one, and Hispanic Heritage Month provides a special opportunity for us to recognize the remarkable contributions of the Hispanic and Latino community across our company and beyond. We are committed to creating opportunities to amplify historically underrepresented voices, supporting emerging entrepreneurs, and leveraging our unique platforms to help create positive change.

We want to take this opportunity during Hispanic Heritage Month, not only to highlight the work that’s been well underway for many years, but also to showcase and celebrate the contributions of the Latino community with unique programming and content, conversations meant to inspire change and movement, and programs designed to support Latino entrepreneurs.

Free Programming and Content

We are proud to announce that Xfinity has curated an exclusive collection of bilingual and bicultural movies, TV shows, music and more, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. To further celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month through music and motion picture, Xfinity Rewards members will be offered In the Heights to enjoy and keep – on us.  In the Heights tells the story of a corner in the predominantly Dominican Washington Heights neighborhood of Upper Manhattan in New York City, where every member of the community pursues their dreams of a better life. The film, which received acclaim from critics was based on the Tony-award winning stage musical created by actor, singer, songwriter, rapper, producer, and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Xfinity Rewards members should visit the Xfinity app or to claim this reward while supplies last. This is just one of the many benefits available through the Xfinity Rewards program. If you’re not yet a member of Xfinity Rewards, signing up is free and simple to do through the Xfinity app or online at

Celebration Through Art

Four incredibly talented content creators who honor and celebrate their culture through their art will be featured across Comcast’s social media and Xfinity platforms. Comcast has partnered with Kathy Cano-Murillo, Gabriela Aléman, Sam Kirk, and Reyna Noriega to commission original pieces that express what Hispanic Heritage Month means to them. Stay tuned throughout the month to see their artwork.

Conversations Meant to Inspire Change and Movement

Comcast Newsmakers will also release seven interviews with leaders committed to championing Hispanic communities. Throughout the month, Comcast Newsmakers will celebrate the unique contributions of Hispanic communities and highlight advancements to challenges facing Hispanic Americans across business, health care, technology, and more.

As part of our ongoing commitment to amplify diverse and underrepresented voices, our Latino Destination and the Black Experience on Xfinity Channel will be the exclusive home of a new docuseries, Founding in Color, which premiered on September 9. Made in collaboration with Comcast NBCUniversal LIFT Labs, Founding in Color features the unique stories of nine Black and Latino entrepreneurs in the tech and entertainment industries who have partnered with Comcast either through our accelerator programs or Comcast RISE.

Programs Designed to Support Latino Entrepreneurs

Our support of the Hispanic and Latino community goes beyond our programming and content. Through programs such as Comcast RISE, we are committed to supporting Hispanic-owned small businesses, especially at a time when, according to a recent Goldman Sachs survey, 44% of U.S. small businesses have less than three months of cash reserves.

NBCUniversal and Telemundo will be joining forces with the launch of the “Come With Us” campaign, which will highlight the entire NBCUniversal portfolio and celebrate Hispanics’ spirit of progression and highlight leaders who have broken boundaries past and present. Telemundo and NBCUniversal platforms will be featuring special programming throughout the month, including “Our Latino Identity,” a streaming special featuring interviews on the topic of Latino identity, and “The Changing Latino Landscape,” an NBC News cross-platform project anchored by interactive digital elements showing where Latinos are living now across the U.S. and how communities have changed over time.

At the heart of everything we do is our employees, and our celebration wouldn’t be complete without the enriching and enlightening programming run by Unidos, our Hispanic- and Latino-focused Employee Resource Group. Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, Unidos will be hosting a three-part educational series on Latino identity, with the purpose of educating our employees on the rich and diverse culture within the community.

This year and every year we are proud to recognize and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, and we will continue to empower and support our employees, audiences, and the communities we serve.
