Comcast Statement on House Energy & Commerce Committee Markup
Statement on today’s House Energy & Commerce Committee Markup attributable to Mitch Rose, Executive Vice President, Federal Government Affairs, Comcast Corporation:
We commend Chairman Pallone and Subcommittee Chairman Doyle for including funds in this bill that will help students and schools, as well as libraries, get and keep more families connected to broadband. This support has become even more vital as millions of students continue their education outside of a traditional classroom setting due to the pandemic. At Comcast, we are committed to digital equity issues, including connecting over 4 million low-income students through our Internet Essentials program, our work with schools through the Internet Essentials Partnership Program, and the commitment to create over 1,000 Lift Zones. All of these efforts and the funds provided in this bill will help us get closer to the goal of closing the homework gap, and ensuring families get and remain connected.
