Comcast’s Notion System Used by Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance to Offer Policyholders Smart Home Monitoring

Denver, CO

Notion, a Comcast Company, announced it is working with Peril Protect, LLC on behalf of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance to support its pilot Smart Home Protection Program by providing eligible policyholders with Notion 5-Sensor Starter Kits.

Notion’s system will help participants of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance’s pilot program to proactively monitor and detect damaging perils, such as water leaks. The Smart Home Protection Program not only provides policyholders with the Notion Home Monitoring System free of charge, but also makes clients eligible for an up to 15% discount on their homeowners insurance premium upon installation.

Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance is helping Indiana homeowners take a proactive approach to preventing or mitigating risks like water damage and freezing temperatures. According to the Insurance Information Institute, about one in 60 insured homes in the U.S. has a property damage claim caused by water damage or freezing each year. As part of its pilot program, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance is paying the full cost of Notion Starter Kits, valued at $199. Additionally, customers who participate in the Smart Home Protection Program and install the Notion Sensors may qualify for up to a 15% homeowners insurance premium discount.  Program terms and conditions can be found here.

“When it comes to a water event, early detection can be the difference between a minor inconvenience and a major loss,” said Isaiah Blackburn, program manager for Peril Protect. “We’re proud to work with Notion to offer Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance policyholders the technology they need to take a proactive approach to protecting their homes so they can minimize the frustration that comes with filing a claim, remediation and repairs – not to mention the disruption to daily life.”

Notion’s DIY smart home sensors are multifunctional, and a single device can monitor for water leaks, the opening of doors and windows, temperature changes, and alarms sounding in the home – all at the same time. No professional installation is required, and sensors can be installed in less than 15 minutes and managed through an easy-to-use app. Notion users also have the option to upgrade to Notion PRO, a service plan that offers additional alerts and professional monitoring for 24/7 peace of mind for only $10 a month.

“When it comes to monitoring for risks like water leaks – smart home technology is a no brainer,” said Thomas Fad, vice president & GM, at Notion. “Notion’s smart sensors have helped homeowners across the country do exactly that, and we are excited that Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance is offering to extend this level of proactive home protection to as many Smart Home Protection Program participants as possible.”
