Pride is Universal
Comcast NBCUniversal celebrates the LGBTQ+ community all year long, and Pride Month provides a special opportunity to recognize the remarkable contributions of the community to our company, culture, and country.
We are uniquely positioned to leverage our platforms across Comcast NBCUniversal to share stories from and about the LGBTQ+ community. Both Xfinity and NBCUniversal are showcasing how Pride is Universal through our dual marketing campaigns. Xfinity is highlighting how we feature LGBTQ+ programming all year long, and NBCUniversal is celebrating landmark firsts in the community’s ongoing fight for equal rights, including gay marriage and job protections, as well as NBCUniversal’s history of breaking down barriers in entertainment.
From our representation in front of and behind the camera to our Xfinity platforms, we are committed to giving our audiences experiences that celebrate Pride. For over a decade, we have celebrated and spread the joy of universal Pride through LGBTQ+ content destinations. Across our entertainment platforms, including Xfinity X1, Xfinity Flex, Xfinity Stream and XClass TV, our year-round LGBTQ+ Film & TV Collection features community-recommended content and special collections curated by our in-house LGBTQ+ editor. This month, customers can also enjoy free LGBTQ+ content from networks including Dekkoo (June 1–7), Here TV (June 8–14), Revry (June 15–21), OUTtv (June 22–28), and Showtime (June 1–30).
NBCUniversal continues to release groundbreaking content – from the June 9 premiere of Queer as Folk on Peacock – which includes an all-queer writers’ room – to Bros, Universal’s upcoming film praised as being the first major studio film with an all openly LGBTQ+ cast.
To mark Pride, Comcast Newsmakers has released new interviews with champions of the LGBTQ+ community, including Melanie Willingham-Jaggers, the first Black, nonbinary Executive Director of GLSEN. Conversations focus on transgender and racial equity, LGBTQ+ business ownership, representation in STEM careers, and the state of equality today. Customers can watch on all Xfinity platforms using the “Comcast Newsmakers” voice command.
All month long, our employees are participating in activities to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. During our Pride Month DE&I Speaker Series, teammates will come together virtually to hear from tennis champion Billie Jean King, as well as gathering in person for Pride Parades throughout the country. And our OUT Employee Resource Group, which counts nearly 10,000 members worldwide, will be hosting events to educate and raise awareness about critical issues across the LGBTQ+ landscape.
Making a difference in our communities is also an important component of our commitment. As part of our partnership with GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer media advocacy organization, Comcast NBCUniversal donated airtime for a GLAAD PSA titled “Protect Our Families,” spotlighting a family and their transgender teenage son.
Comcast NBCUniversal’s commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality is public and steadfast. Diversity, inclusion, equity, respect, and civil rights protections are critically important to innovation, our workforce, our customers, and the social and economic health of the communities we serve.
