We’re Ready to Make History in South Jersey

By Comcast Corporation

Many South Jersey residents have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to connect to the Internet for the first time. Here’s how Comcast is helping community leaders and elected officials navigate the new landscape of federal funding to deliver broadband to anyone who needs it.

What South Jerseyans should know first: Congress has appropriated $42 billion to connect people in unserved areas. That means digitally disadvantaged residents and businesses have the potential to do what many communities have been trying to do for years: get connected to Comcast and stay connected for life.

$42B

In federal funding, targeted primarily for broadband deployment.

Potential customers and local leaders alike should understand what 32 million customers have come to expect: that a community powered by Comcast is built to handle the growing needs of today and stay ahead of future demand forever.

Here’s why other communities have chosen Comcast:

1. Experience and history matters.

We’re relentlessly focused on evolving our network. We have the tools, history, supply chain relationships and expertise to connect more homes and businesses faster and more reliably than anyone – we are adding more customers each day. Since 1996, Comcast has been at the leading edge of network innovation.

2. We’ve made massive network and speed investments in New Jersey.

Over the past 10 years we’ve invested nearly $30 billion to extend our network nationwide, and over the last three, $1 billion alone has been spent in New Jersey.

Comcast increased speeds in New Jersey and across its footprint twice this year. It’s the beginning of an unprecedented rollout of multi-gig speeds that will hit more than 50 million homes and businesses nationwide before the end of 2025.

3. Many communities have already selected Comcast.

Lots of communities similar to the unserved parts of South Jersey have awarded their state infrastructure grants to Comcast.

Most recently, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice selected Comcast to connect more than 2,100 unserved homes and businesses across the state in three rural counties.

“This is the next official step in our partnership with Comcast to bring high-speed Internet to some of the most rural communities in West Virginia,” Gov. Justice said on Dec. 6. “My Billion-Dollar Broadband Strategy is creating partnerships like this with Comcast to bring the best in Internet service across the state, and I am excited to continue our work in expanding connectivity in West Virginia.”

4. We make Internet affordable.

Low-income residents served by Comcast can benefit from the federal government’s other broadband initiative: the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides eligible households with up to $30 a month toward their internet and/or mobile service ($75/month on Tribal lands). The credit can be applied to any tier of Xfinity Internet service, including Internet Essentials for low-income families, along with wireless service through Xfinity Mobile.

5. We’ll put money back in your wallet with Xfinity Mobile.

Comcast’s best-kept secret is Xfinity Mobile – one of the fastest growing wireless providers. Xfinity Mobile, which combines the nation’s most reliable 5G network with 22 million WiFi hotspots nationwide. South Jersey is loaded with hundreds of Xfinity hotspots located in prime locations.

6. We love our communities.

We are committed to creating equitable pathways to success in an increasingly digital world. In the last three years, Comcast invested $18.1 million total cash and in-kind charitable contributions to New Jersey nonprofits, 192 in all.

We’ve also launched Wi-Fi-enabled Lift Zones across New Jersey to ensure students and adults can learn and work online.
