Telemundo Headquarters to Host Latest Comcast NBCUniversal Hackathon

Miami, FL

Hackathon technology providers include Amazon Web Services, Inc. and Google Cloud; participants will compete in the newly inaugurated Telemundo Center for a $10,000 grand prize.

Comcast NBCUniversal today announced the company’s latest public hackathon, which will be held in NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises new global headquarters, Telemundo Center in Miami, Florida on November 3-4, 2018. Hackathon participants will be challenged to leverage technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Mobile Augmented Reality (AR) to develop new ways to tell stories and foster deeper fan and community engagement with participating NBCUniversal brands.

Over a 24-hour period, hackathon participants will work on innovative cross-platform solutions while vying for a $10,000 grand prize, plus the opportunity to pitch their idea to NBCUniversal Executives. Participants will have access to NBCUniversal content as well as platforms, APIs, SDKs and technical support from Technology Providers throughout the two-day event.

“Telemundo Center’s cutting-edge technology is specifically designed to spark innovation and foster creative energy,” says Peter Blacker, Executive Vice President, Revenue Strategy & Innovation, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. “We are excited to host this event and hope that the building inspires them to think outside of the box and come up with creative solutions.”

This is the second such hackathon the company has held in Miami. The first was in October of 2016.

"We’re happy to be back in Miami, which is fast becoming a major tech hub,” said Altaf Rupani, NBCUniversal’s Head of Digital and Emerging Technology.

“It’s especially great to be partnering with Peter at the Telemundo Center,” he added. “It’s a world-class production facility packed with its own state-of-the-art technology.”

Hackathon Technology Providers include: Amazon Web Services, Inc., Google Cloud, WIREWAX Interactive Video Technology and more.

Judges – including tech influencers, as well as NBCUniversal executives – will select 1st and 2nd runners up, as well as an overall Grand Prize winner. Additional information and a chance to participate can be found HERE.
