Celebrating Service During National Veterans & Military Families Month

By Carol Eggert

At Comcast NBCUniversal, Military Engagement and building a future of unlimited possibilities for veterans, service members, and military families are part of our company's DNA. Our celebration of the military community runs year-round, but we're always excited to turn it up a notch during National Veterans and Military Families Month.

2022 is the first year in the last two decades that U.S. service members weren't deployed to support a major theater of operations overseas. However, we can't forget that thousands of men and women in uniform are deployed worldwide, working with partner countries, patrolling trade routes, providing aid to those in need, and much more.

Because their service never stops, ours won't either.

Advancing Digital Equity

Thousands of veterans and military families are connected to the Internet through our Internet Essentials and Lift Zones at military community organizations nationwide. And Comcast's participation in the Affordable Connectivity Program offers the opportunity for more veterans and military families to connect. Advancing digital equity among the military community allows veterans and military families to access VA benefits, telehealth resources, career and education programs, and critical social connections.

These are part of our Project UP initiative, our dedication to impacting the communities we serve. Over the next ten years, we're investing $1 billion to advance digital equity, reaching tens of millions of people nationwide.

Empowering Military Communities

Comcast NBCUniversal collaborates with organizations that support military communities. Since 2011, our company has provided over $197 million in cash and in-kind giving to these organizations. We also continue working with partners to develop programs and advocacy initiatives to increase access to the Internet, develop digital skills and career programs, and improve the wellness of veterans, service members, and military families. Our Team UP national employee volunteer program brings Comcast teams together to show their respect and support for military communities.

Military Hiring

Starting with our company's founder Ralph Roberts, a World War II Navy veteran, we deeply value the energy and skills military-connected teammates bring to our workplaces. We're excited to share that we've hired well over 19,400 veterans, National Guard and reserve service members, and military spouses since 2015. Our award-winning military-inclusive workplace empowers these teammates to thrive in their careers, and we're committed to continuing to open career opportunities for military-connected talent.

On behalf of Comcast NBCUniversal, it's my honor to express our company's gratitude to our nation's veterans, service members, and military families.
