NBC Sports earned 31 Sports Emmy Award nominations for 2021, highlighted by nominations for its coverage of the Tokyo Olympics, NFL, NASCAR, and golf.

The announcement was made today by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Highlights of NBC Sports’ nominations:

  • The Games of the XXXII Olympiad from Tokyo, Japan, garnered the second-most nominations of any program with 10;
  • Sunday Night Football — primetime television’s No. 1 show — was nominated again for Outstanding Live Sports Series, which it has won 11 times in the past 13 years;
  • NBC Sports received two nominations in the Outstanding Live Sports Special category for its presentations of the Games of the XXXII Olympiad and Super Bowl LVI;
  • The George Wensel Technical Achievement Award nomination for the Friends & Family production element during the Tokyo Olympics;
  • Mike Tirico was nominated in the Outstanding Sports Personality – Host category for the third consecutive year;
  • Al Michaels was nominated in the Outstanding Sports Personality – Play-by-Play category, an award he has won seven times;
  • Cris Collinsworth, winner of 16 Sports Emmys throughout his career, was nominated in the Outstanding Sports Personality – Analyst category for the fourth consecutive year;
  • Michele Tafoya, a four-time winner of the Outstanding Sports Personality – Sports Reporter Emmy, was nominated for the 10th time in the 10-year history of the category;
  • Andrés Cantor (Telemundo), winner of three Sports Emmys, was nominated for Outstanding On-Air Sports Personality in Spanish, along with Telemundo Deportes colleagues Miguel Gurwitz and Ana Jurka.

NBC Sports earned a total of 31 nominations, including five nominations for Peacock, one nomination for GOLF Channel and six nominations for Telemundo.
