Comcast Statement on FCC and NTIA Nominations
Comcast Chief Legal Officer Tom Reid statement on the renomination and appointment of FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel as Chair of the FCC, the nomination of Gigi Sohn to the FCC, and the nomination of Alan Davidson as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information:
“Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel has distinguished herself throughout her tenure as a Commissioner and as Acting Chairwoman, and we congratulate her on the nomination as the FCC’s first woman Chair of the Commission. She has continued to be a leader on important communications issues, such as closing the Homework Gap, enhancing public safety, and promoting a balanced spectrum policy. Rosenworcel has already successfully managed the Commission’s implementation of the Emergency Broadband Benefit and Emergency Connectivity Fund on an accelerated schedule with millions of Americans receiving benefits in just the first several months.
Gigi Sohn has been an advocate for consumers for many years and would bring her tireless advocacy on the critical issue of connecting all Americans to broadband back to the FCC. We have long shared that commitment. Alan Davidson has a wealth of public and private sector experience, and his nomination at NTIA means the country will be well-served by his in-depth knowledge of the communications industry.
We look forward to working with each nominee if confirmed and with the FCC and NTIA as they address the nation’s vital communications needs including effectively ensuring the availability of broadband for all Americans.”
