Comcast Statement on FCC Nomination and Renominations

Comcast Chief Legal Officer Tom Reid statement on the nomination of Anna Gomez as an FCC Commissioner, and on the renominations of FCC Commissioners Brendan Carr and Geoffrey Starks:

“Anna Gomez’s deep knowledge across the breadth of issues before the FCC makes her exceptionally qualified to be a Commissioner.  In addition to her prior service at the FCC, she also has extensive experience in both the executive and legislative branches of government – from NTIA and the Senate, and most recently leading the US delegation to the ITU World radio conference.  From the digital broadcast transition to spectrum issues, Ms. Gomez has expertise across the board.

In his time as an FCC Commissioner, Brendan Carr has championed efforts to overcome hurdles to broadband deployment and address emerging issues in the broader communications ecosystem.  We welcome his continued leadership on policies to spur investment and innovation, create jobs, and ensure that the US remains the leader in global communications.

Commissioner Starks has worked passionately and tirelessly to ensure the availability of universal access to affordable, high-quality broadband.  He has been a leader on digital equity and inclusion and on closing the digital divide, particularly on connecting marginalized communities and communities of color.  His continued advocacy for the Affordable Connectivity Program has helped it become the most successful broadband connectivity program in history.

We congratulate all three of these nominees on their well-deserved nominations and look forward to continuing to work with the FCC as they address the nation’s critical communications needs including ensuring that all Americans have access to broadband.”
