Comcast Closes Acquisition of Defined Technologies, LLC
Philadelphia, PA
Comcast Business today announced that Comcast Government Services has completed the acquisition of Defined Technologies, LLC – a Tysons, VA-based, wholly-owned subsidiary of MicroTechnologies, LLC.
Defined Technologies, LLC provides Federal agencies with telecommunications, support services and solutions, engineering, and program management in support of telecom transformation, transitions, and implementations. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The acquisition expands Comcast Business’s rapidly growing position as a premier provider of connectivity and communications solutions to government agencies, with Defined Technologies being one of only nine prime contractors holding a General Services Administration (GSA) Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) contract to modernize the government’s IT, network, and telecommunications infrastructure. Defined Technologies, LLC will continue to be the contractor of record for EIS.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Defined Technologies into Comcast Business. With this strategic addition to our federal government services portfolio we’re well-positioned for even greater growth and success,” said Ken Folderauer, Vice President, Federal Sales, Comcast Business. “We look forward to working together and delivering innovative solutions that will transform and enhance our federal government’s IT, network and digital infrastructure.”
The EIS contract, a $50 Billion, 15-year contract, is the main component of GSA’s telecommunications portfolio and was originally awarded to only ten prime contractors by GSA in 2017 as part of its transformative plan to modernize the government's IT, network, and telecommunications infrastructure. This contract replaces more than 90 expiring contracts into a single integrated Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract vehicle containing all of the services and solutions offered by those contracts as well as many new services and solutions.
“Defined Technologies has grown as a company over the years and the acquisition by Comcast was the next logical step. It was a pleasure working with Comcast and we know they will be successful taking Defined Technologies to the next level,” said Tony Jimenez, President, CEO and Founder, MicroTech.
