The New Normal: New Series Success on NBC
Airing Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET, The New Normal is the latest in NBC’s critically acclaimed comedy programming. Not to mention it is full of heart and humor. In The New Normal, creator, executive producer and director Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) and creator and executive producer Ali Adler (Glee, Chuck) have brought to life a truly unique family reflecting the changing dynamics of today’s world. In 2012, families come in all forms — single dads, two moms, sperm donors and egg donors. In the show, Bryan (Andrew Rannells) and David (Justin Bartha) are a Los Angeles couple that have it all. That is, except a baby. And just when they think the stars will never align, enter Goldie (Georgia King), an extraordinary young woman with a checkered past. A Midwestern waitress and single mother looking to escape her dead-end life and small-minded grandmother (Emmy and Tony Award winner Ellen Barken), Goldie decides to change everything and move to L.A. with her precocious 8-year-old daughter. She is desperate and broke, but also fertile. She quickly becomes the guys’ surrogate mother and surrogate family.
The New Normal is off to an impressive premiere season and is on its way to joining the ranks of some of NBC’s greatest family comedies, including The Cosby Show and Family Ties.
