Telemundo Reaches Ratings and Viewership Milestone

Paced by “Noticiero Telemundo,” the fastest-growing evening news program, regardless of language, and “La Patrona,” which outperformed english-language broadcast programs among adults 18-49, Telemundo delivered its best February yet, and also hit a milestone by reaching over 2 million total viewers.
Coming off a record breaking start of the new year, Telemundo Media continues to build on this momentum by delivering the network’s best February performance in its history with over 1.3 million total viewers (1,324,000) during Monday through Sunday primetime, according to Nielsen. Telemundo was the fastest growing Spanish-language broadcast network during Monday through Sunday primetime among total viewers and adults 18-49 (676,000), delivering double-digit gains among both demos versus the prior year. In addition, Telemundo had its best delivery for the month of February in Monday through Friday primetime averaging over 1.4 million viewers (1,421,000).
Telemundo also widened its lead in Monday through Sunday primetime over #3 ranking network UniMás, averaging +86% more total viewers (1,324,000 vs. 711,000); and up +71% more adults 18-49 (676,000 vs. 395,000).
Primetime
Fueled by its blockbuster lineup of popular original programming, including their runaway hit novela "La Patrona," Telemundo reached new milestones in its Monday through Friday primetime lineup.
At 7 p.m., "Caso Cerrado Edicion Estelar" drew over 1.7 million total viewers for the second consecutive month and 753,000 among adults 18-49 averaging more than 700,000 in the demo for the fourth straight month – the longest streak in its history. Compared to the prior year, "Caso" grew +13% in total viewers and +16% among adults 18-49.
At 8 p.m., the hit novela "Pasion Prohibida" averaged over 1.2 million total viewers during this month.
At 9 p.m., Telemundo’s latest hit "La Patrona" (The Boss) reached a new milestone with its ratings surge of over 2 million total viewers and 1,145,000 adults 18-49 during the week of February 18, (up 37% and up 46% vs. its premiere week respectively). The telenovela, starring Aracely Arámbula as the only female miner in a town called San Pedro del Ojo, hit gold among viewers and topped English-language broadcast programs among adults 18-49 including Fox’s "Touch" on February 22nd and NBC’s "New Normal" and "Smash" on February 19. "La Patrona" brought impressive increases to the 9pm time period year to year, up +43% in total viewers and +39% adults 18-49.
At 10 p.m., the beloved drama "El Rostro de la Venganza" averaged 1 million total viewers.
News
"Noticiero Telemundo" saw double digit growth versus the prior year making it the fastest growing broadcast evening news program, regardless of language. The award winning newscast, led by anchors José Díaz-Balart and Maria Celeste Arraras, averaged 861,000 total viewers, 371,000 adults 18-49 and 377,000 adults 25-54, increasing +22%, +24% and +25%, respectively, vs. last year.
"Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste," Telemundo’s daily newsmagazine, will finish the month with double-digit growth as well, currently averaging 1,088,000 total viewers and 472,000 adults 18-49, an increase of +13% and +23%, respectively. February 2013 will mark "Al Rojo Vivo’s" fifth consecutive month of year-over-year growth among adults 18-49 and the fourth straight month of growth in total viewers.
Movies
During the month of February, Telemundo was home to the highest-rated movies on Spanish-language broadcast television.
Telemundo aired the top six movies on Spanish-language broadcast television in primetime among total viewers and adults 18-49, including #1 ranked "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" which attracted over 1.9 million total viewers and 999,000 adults 18-49 on February 9. The animation hit film also ranks as the highest rated primetime movie on Spanish-language broadcast television this season among adults 18-49, total viewers, kids 2-11 (561,000) and persons 12-17 (179,000).
