Spring Joint Diversity Council Meeting Fosters New Perspectives
The JDC is comprised of national leaders in business, politics, civil rights, and includes sub-committees representing the interests of people of color, women, the LGBT community, veterans, and people with disabilities.
We welcomed our newest JDC member, Mee Moua, President and Executive Director, of Asian Americans Advancing Justice. And over the course of two days, JDC members were engaged in various breakout sessions with our business unit leaders to enhance our workforce, supplier diversity, programming, and community investment diversity and inclusion initiatives.
We also hosted an interactive Asian American Community panel, moderated by Joint Council member, Don Liu Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary, Xerox Corporation and featured: Linda Akutagawa, President & CEO, Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics (LEAP); Christine Chen, Director, APIA Vote; Jane Hyun: author Breaking the Bamboo Ceiling and co-author, Flex; and Frank Wu, Chancellor and Dean, UC Hastings Law School in San Francisco, and author, Yellow. Each panelist addressed Asian American-focused issues specific to media portrayals, employment and the "bamboo ceiling," population demographics, and the political landscape.
