Olympics Primetime Live: A New Way to Watch On Demand

As a moment in time that generates massive engagement on our platforms, we like to use the Olympics as an opportunity to test new and innovative solutions to a captive and engaged audience.

Something we're excited to continue testing during the Sochi Games is a new technology we've built into our Xfinity On Demand platform that makes programming available to view On Demand almost immediately after it starts. 

We've been testing this technology with some NBC programming, like Grimm and The Sound of Music, and we're going to continue trialing it with X1 customers in select markets during the Sochi Games. When customers select "Olympics Primetime Live" in the Xfinity On Demand menu, they'll be able to start the NBC's primetime broadcast over from the beginning and avoid missing key moments or having to wait until the next day to watch recaps and replays On Demand. We’re also including the local news that follows the broadcast, so they won’t need to worry about missing that as well.

While it's still a trial, we think this technology has huge potential for the industry. Not only will it give programmers and studios the ability to capture more audience and drive higher ratings, but it gives our customers more options for viewing their favorite shows and movies on their terms - anytime, anywhere
