NBCUniversal’s Hispanic Enterprises and Content announced that cable industry veteran, Ruben Mendiola, has been named President of its cable channel, mun2. He will report to Joe Uva, Chairman, Hispanic Enterprises and Content, NBCUniversal.

In his new role, Mendiola will focus on developing and driving the cable channel's overall strategy and programming, and provide operational leadership across the business. In collaboration with the organization's senior management, he will be responsible for identifying opportunities for the cable channel to grow its distribution, drive ratings and align the organization for future growth.

"He and his team will develop and acquire content to build a relevant, high demand general entertainment cable network for the rapidly expanding U.S. Hispanic audience."

Most recently, Mendiola was with Comcast Cable and served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Multicultural Services.  He was responsible for directing, designing and implementing the company’s multicultural services strategy across all Xfinity products and collaborating with various Comcast divisions, regions and business unit partners to develop competitive product pricing, positioning and marketing strategies. In that role, Mendiola led the creation of Freeview Latino, the biggest free On Demand event in Latino TV history, and the launch of the Xfinity Latino Entertainment Channel, evolving it from an interactive channel providing programming updates and highlights, into a one-of-a-kind destination for live and exclusive English and Spanish-language programming, available to nearly 19 million Comcast Xfinity TV customers. 

Previously, Mendiola was General Manager of Latino Programming and Spanish Business Development at Dish Network. During his nine years at the company, he spearheaded and defined the company's Spanish video content initiatives, and was also responsible for creating the DISH Latino division. Prior to DISH, Mendiola was Vice President of Programming and Operations at Fox Sports Latin America. He also served as Programming Director for Pay TV at Grupo Televisa where he was responsible for content negotiations for all Pay TV Systems of Televisa including Sky Entertainment Services and Cablevision.

Ruben is a graduate of Universidad Iberoamericana A.C. in Mexico City where he earned his degree in Corporate Law.
