'Nightly News' Wins Election Night And The Week Across The Board

On Election Night, Nightly News ranked No. 1 across the board, averaging 8.1 million total viewers and 2.9 million A25-54 viewers.

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt ranked No. 1 across the board for the week of November 7, averaging 8.8 million total viewers, leading "ABC World News Tonight" by +42,000 viewers and "CBS Evening News" by 1.43 million viewers (+20 percent). Week to week, Nightly News delivered the biggest growth among total viewers (+821,000 or +10 percent), A25-54 (+479,000 or +25 percent) and A18-49 (+416,000 or +30 percent).

Nightly News posted its biggest non-Olympics audience since the week of February 29, 2016. On Election Night, Nightly News ranked No. 1 across the board, averaging 8.1 million total viewers and 2.9 million A25-54 viewers. On Wednesday evening, Nightly News averaged 9.6 million total viewers, its biggest non-Olympics total viewer delivery since February 22, 2016.

Nightly News continues its dominance in the demo, averaging 2.4 million A25-54 viewers for the week, leading ABC by +297,000 (+14 percent) and CBS by +588,000 (+33 percent). This was Nightly News’s best non-Olympics A25-54 delivery since the week of January 25, 2016 and its widest demo advantages over the competition in five weeks. Among A18-49, Nightly News averaged 1.41 million viewers for the week, topping ABC by +278,000 (+18 percent) and CBS by + 529,000 (+41 percent). The NBC News broadcast has ranked No. 1 in A25-54 and A18-49 for 67 of the last 68 weeks.

Season to date, Nightly News is the only evening newscast to post growth among A25-54 viewers (+9,000) and is showing the biggest increase among A18-49 viewers (+49,000). The NBC News broadcast is having its best A25-54 delivery and lead over ABC to start a season in three years (2013-14).
