NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt Is No. 1 Across The Board For Third Straight Week

NBC broadcast posts double-digit demo growth year-to-year nightly regains No. 1 in the demo season-to-date.
NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt has been No. 1 across the board for all three weeks since Holt was named anchor. In Holt’s third week, the NBC broadcast expanded its lead over ABC in all categories compared to his first official week and posted significant growth compared to the same week last year.
According to Nielsen Media Research Live+Same Day data for the week of July 6-9, 2015, Nightly topped ABC’s World News Tonight by +639,000 total viewers, +178,000 viewers A25-54, and +201,000 viewers A18-49. Nightly has now won 4 of the last 5 weeks, 8 of the last 11 weeks, and 296 of the last 303 weeks among total viewers.
Versus the same week last season, Nightly posted increases in total viewers (+5 percent, or +384,000), A25-54 viewers (+11 percent, or +200,000), and A18-49 viewers (+10 percent, or +130,000).
3Q’15-to-date, Nightly is posting across-the-board gains versus its 2Q’15 averages in total viewers (+6 percent, or +484,000), A25-54 viewers (+9 percent, or +169,000), and A18-49 viewers (+12 percent, or +159,000). ABC continues to be down in all 3QTD measures vs. 2Q’15.
Season-to-date, Nightly is now No. 1 in total viewers, A25-54, and A18-49 after surpassing ABC in the A25-54 demo.
Nightly averaged 8.136 million total viewers, +639,000 (+9 percent) more than ABC World News Tonight and +1,453,000 (22 percent) ahead of CBS Evening News.
Nightly averaged 1.959 million A25-54 viewers, leading ABC by +178,000 (+10 percent) and CBS by +451,000 (+30 percent).
Nightly delivered a 1.6 A25-54 rating, +1 tenth more than ABC and +3 tenths more than CBS.
Nightly averaged 1.415 million A18-49 viewers, leading ABC by +201,000 (+17 percent) and CBS by +330,000 (+30 percent).
