NBC Nightly News Continues to Post Multi-Year Highs

NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams”continued as America’s most-watched network evening newscast in both total viewers and adults 25-54 for the week ending Nov. 22, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research data. For the third consecutive week, Nightly topped ABC by over a million total viewers.
On Friday, as Brian Williams anchored from Dealey Plaza in Dallas to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Nightly topped ABC by nearly 1.3 million total viewers and nearly 300,000 viewers A25-54.
Season-to-date, Nightly has widened its total viewer advantage over ABC by +37% versus the same period last year. Also season-to-date, Nightly is delivering its biggest total viewer audience (8.698 million) to start a season since 2006 and its best advantage over ABC (+882,000) since 2010. Nightly has won in total viewers for 219 consecutive weeks, and in 266 of the past 267 weeks.
Weekly Highlights:
Nightly delivered 9.334 million total viewers, +1,060,000 more than ABC World News’ 8.274 million and +1,756,000 more than CBS Evening News’ 7.578 million.
Nightly beat ABC by at least one million viewers four out of five nights.
Nightly averaged a 6.2/11 Household rating, ahead of ABC’s 5.5/10 and CBS’ 4.9/9.
Nightly delivered a 1.9 A25-54 rating, +2 tenths ahead of ABC’s 1.7 and +4 tenths more than CBS’s 1.5 rating.
Among A25-54 (000), Nightly averaged 2.281 million viewers, +235,000 ahead of World News’ 2.046 million, and +447,000 ahead of Evening News’ 1.834 million.
