Community Impact

Empowering Urban Communities

Comcast has partnered with the National Urban League since 2007 to increase awareness and further develop the League’s educational programs.

Comcast has partnered with the National Urban League since 2007, and we recently extended our partnership through 2014. We work with the League to increase awareness of and further develop educational programs that address the needs of the African American community.

The National Urban League represents over 100 local affiliates in 36 states and provides direct services to more than 2 million people nationwide through programs, advocacy and research.

In 2011, Comcast provided the National Urban League with more than $12 million in airtime for the "I Am Empowered" campaign, which encourages involvement in the community through service. Comcast also supports the League’s Annual Conference, the State of Black America Press Conference, the Conversation with Leaders Series and the Equal Opportunity Day Awards Dinner. As part of our partnership, Urban League chapters support our digital literacy efforts and partner with us on Comcast Cares Day. In 2012, the National Urban League sponsored more than 70 projects in neighborhoods across the country.
