MSNBC Presents Special Live Coverage of the March on Washington Anniversary

Reverend Al Sharpton kicks off the coverage with a live two-hour special on Friday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. ET.

MSNBC will present special coverage of  the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington live from the National Mall on Friday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 24. The coverage will begin with a special two-hour PoliticsNation: March on Washington: The Dream Continues hosted by Reverend Al Sharpton.

The two-hour PoliticsNation: March on Washington: The Dream Continues special will air from 6-8PM ET live from the National Mall. Guests will include Representative John Lewis, Martin Luther King III, Bernice King, Taylor Branch, Myrlie Evers-Williams, Edith Lee-Payne, Marc Morial as well as key union leaders and marchers both past and present. 

On Saturday, Aug. 24, Reverend Sharpton and MLK III will lead the 50th Anniversary March on Washington from the National Mall. MSNBC will provide live coverage Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. ET and continuing with "Melissa Harris Perry" at 10 a.m. ET, Disrupt with Karen Finney at 2 p.m. ET and The Ed Show with Ed Schultz at 4 p.m. ET all live from Washington DC.

Throughout the weekend, MSNBC anchors and correspondents will share their own reflections on the civil rights movement and how they or people from their communities are ‘Advancing the Dream’.  Marchers and observers along the march route are encouraged to share their own thoughts and photos related to ‘Advancing the Dream’ using the Twitter hash tag #AdvancingtheDream.
