Impact 2013: Driving Innovation Through Diversity

More than 150 Comcast and NBCUniversal Employee Resource Group (ERG) leaders recently united for Impact 2013 — an annual summit to advance the development of ERGs and the employee leaders who drive their success. The three-day event also helped facilitate collaboration among each of the individual ERGs.

Comcast and NBCUniversal developed ERGs, or Affinity Groups, to leverage the strength of the company’s diversity to drive innovation and foster understanding and empowerment. The groups maintain a strong and considerable presence within the organization and are comprised of Comcast and NBCUniversal employees from eight different focus areas: Asian Pacific Americans; Black Professionals; Hispanic Professionals; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT); People with Disabilities; Military Veterans; Women and Young Professionals.

Coordinated by the Comcast and NBCUniversal Diversity & Inclusion teams, Impact 2013’s robust agenda was inspired by the theme "Evolve. Empower. Execute." It featured senior executive presentations, professional development workshops and a project for Comcast Cares Day and Green is Universal. The summit culminated with a facilitated strategic planning session for each ERG. The teams applied the tools they acquired during the workshops to create actionable steps to increase their value to their members and the company.

"I am proud of what the Affinity Groups have accomplished since January 2012, and Impact 2013 has positioned our employee resource groups to work together in making valuable contributions to our company’s future," said David L. Cohen, Executive Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer. "It was an incredibly productive event. Our leaders are eager to apply the action plans they created to help drive measurable results in support of our business goals in 2013 and beyond."
