Global Spectrum Chosen to Manage and Operate Proposed GTA Centre in Markham

W. Graeme Roustan, Chairman and CEO of GTA Sports and Entertainment, announced today that Global Spectrum has been named the operator and manager of the proposed 20,000-seat GTA Centre in Markham. A worldwide leader in the management of public assembly venues, Global Spectrum is the largest private venue management company in Canada, with four accounts in Ontario alone.

"Global Spectrum has an outstanding reputation in the sports and entertainment industry and is clearly the best company to manage the proposed facility," said Roustan. "They do an excellent job managing other Ontario venues, including the nearby Budweiser Gardens (London), the GM Centre (Oshawa), the new Mattamy Athletic Centre at Ryerson University (Toronto) and WFCU Centre (Windsor). We feel very confident that they would produce amazing events at the GTA Centre."

"We are extremely pleased to be expanding our business relationships in Ontario with the GTA Centre," said John Page, Chief Operating Officer at Global Spectrum. "We firmly believe the Markham region can support an additional 20,000-seat arena that can host more than 130 events annually, whether that be concerts, community events, cultural events, sporting events, trade shows or conventions, among others."

BBB Architects has been selected to design the centre.

Global-Spectrum manages 112 public assembly facilities around the world. Nearly 20 million people attended more than 11,000 events at Global Spectrum venues last year. Based in Philadelphia, PA, Global Spectrum is part of Comcast-Spectacor, one of the world’s largest sports and entertainment companies.
