Diversity within our supply chain enhances efficiency, innovation, and competition and provides additional value to our customers. In turn, we contribute to the creation of jobs and to building wealth within diverse communities across the country.
Identifying Opportunities, Increasing Our Reach
Between YE 2010 and YE 2013, our supplier diversity teams participated in more than 200 supplier diversity outreach events across the United States.
In addition to engaging with diverse business owners face-to-face, we encourage diverse suppliers to register in our online portals to gain optimal visibility to our Comcast and NBCUniversal business units. By the end of 2013, more than 3,500 diverse business owners were registered.
Part of our company’s broader mission as it relates to inclusion includes promoting the importance of diversity at every level of the supply chain. To increase diversity with our subcontractors, we send letters to our prime, non-diverse Tier I contractors to express the importance of their strategic partnerships with diverse suppliers.
Diverse Advertising, Wider Audiences
In 2011, Comcast and NBCUniversal increased advertising spend with minority-owned media by $7 million and maintained or increased that level in 2012 and 2013. We work with diverse firms for advertising, public relations, marketing, and media services, including Burrell Communications, Grupo Gallegos, Liquid Soul Media, Bark Bark, Baru, TD Wang, and Lopez Negrete.
