Community Investment: Looking Forward, Giving Back

Comcast NBCUniversal last month were recognized as one of our nation’s top 50 community-minded companies, according to a comprehensive survey of S&P 500 corporations by Bloomberg, the Points of Light Foundation and the National Conference on Citizenship.

It was a great honor to receive this recognition, and to be able to share with everyone the truly generous spirit of our employees across all companies, divisions, regions and departments.

Fifty years after Comcast’s founding, our commitment to our communities is as strong as ever. I invite you to take a deeper look at our more recent Community Investment efforts in this second biannual publication of Inside CI. Our goal is to connect the dots behind our Community Investment strategy.

There are many reasons to be proud. For one, we’ve completed our most successful United Way campaign in company history leading us to surpass $50 million in total historic support to United Way. For another, our Internet Essentials program celebrated a milestone last fall, surpassing one million people connected to the life-changing resources the Internet can provide.

While we have much to celebrate, I believe the best is yet to come. Through our new partnership with Khan Academy, a nonprofit website that makes education free and accessible, Internet Essentials will help us achieve our mutual goal of better preparing students for the 21st century workforce. In addition, we have forged new digital technology partnerships with The Arc, an advocate for the rights of the disabilities community, and LIFT, an economic empowerment organization committed to combatting poverty.

We’ll also be celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Comcast Foundation. And in a few short months, on April 26, our Comcast and NBCUniversal teams will again get our hands dirty around the world for our 13th annual Comcast Cares Day.

Comcast is 50 years strong, but I’m even more excited to see what stories we’ll write in our next chapter ahead. Thank you for helping us make this journey.

Sincerely,

Charisse R. Lillie
