Comcast Sponsors National LGBT 50th Anniversary Celebration
The three-day 50th Anniversary celebration takes place July 2 – 5 in Philadelphia, on the heels of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in favor of same-sex marriage nationwide. LGBT50 commemorates the annual marches that began on July 4, 1965 outside of Independence Hall where gay activists from DC, Philadelphia and NYC demonstrated for equality.
Events include a July 4th National LGBT 50th Anniversary Ceremony hosted by Emmy Award-winning comedian, actor, writer, and voice artist, Wanda Sykes as well as a series of history panels, discussions and parties. Comcast’s sponsorship of the 50th anniversary demonstrates the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusion of the LGBT community. Our sponsorship is also a great complement to our exclusive LGBT film collection that launched in celebration of LGBT Pride Month. The collection features movies curated by Frameline, a world-renowned media arts organization connecting filmmakers and audiences around the world, and XFINITY TV customers can access the film collection online at xfinity.com/LGBT until July 15th.
