This fourth in a series of Comcast NBCUniversal Hackathons comes on the heels of the media and technology company’s recent events in Orlando, Universal City, and the inaugural hackathon in New York City. In addition to integrating projects into NBCUniversal's product pipeline, the hackathons have resulted in the hiring of several developers.
"It is exciting to see so many projects from our previous hackathons become integrated into our development pipeline," said Sanjay Macwan, SVP and CTO, NBCUniversal Media Labs. "Telemundo recently announced the upcoming launch of R.A.V.E. (real-time augmented virtual experience), which gives viewers the opportunity to interact and share content in a completely new way. As one part of R.A.V.E., Telemundo plans to include an experience inspired by one of the innovative projects from the Universal City hackathon. Now, to build on these successes, we are bringing our industry leading hackathon series to London’s thriving tech community to help us innovate for our global customers."
BeMyApp has been tapped to invite developers to the Comcast NBCUniversal Hackathon. The company will help secure participants by engaging their network of developers, particularly those who have a track record of creating products for entertainment, digital media and/or television. In addition to Application Program Interfaces (APIs), hardware and software from suppliers and NBCUniversal properties listed above, Comcast NBCUniversal Hackathon teams will also have access to hardware and APIs from Leap Motion, WIREWAX, Spredfast, FindAnyFilm.com, and more.
Judges – including tech influencers, and NBCUniversal executives – will select winners in a variety of categories. Additional information can be found at nbcumedialabs.com/hackathon.
