Comcast NBCUniversal Earns No. 29 Spot On Diversityinc Top 50 List
We are pleased to announce that Comcast NBCUniversal ranked #29 of 50 this year, up from the #30 spot on the 2015 list, and #44 on the 2014 list.
According to DiversityInc, Comcast NBCUniversal ranked competitively against our peers in several significant measures, namely supplier diversity, women in senior leadership, and Hispanics in management positions. We were also recognized for our focus on advancing women in technology, including our TECHWomen employee resource group, which currently has eight chapters across the nation and focuses on attracting, engaging, retaining, and developing key female talent in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Comcast NBCUniversal also ranked on three of DiversityInc’s 2016 specialty lists:
-
#4 for People with Disabilities: We moved up from the #10 spot in 2015. Comcast NBCUniversal recently launched pilot programs focused on identifying areas where people with disabilities can bring particular value to our team, and we are partnering with third-party experts to ensure we are reaching these talented candidates.
-
#5 for Supplier Diversity: We are honored to appear on this list for the first time this year, thanks to the dedication of our robust Supplier Diversity teams at both Comcast Cable and NBCUniversal.
-
#9 for Veterans: We also appear on this list for the first time, due in part to the tremendous work of our newly formed Military and Veteran Affairs office, led by retired Army Brigadier General Carol Eggert.
These rankings were announced at the end of an all-day event that began with a series of Learning Sessions with leaders in corporate Diversity & Inclusion. These diversity practitioners and advocates shared their expertise and evolving best practices in topics ranging from innovative recruitment strategies to addressing unconscious bias in the workplace.
Our own Michael L. Cox, Senior Vice President of Talent Acquisition, sat on a panel to discuss Recruiting Strategies for Women in Technical Roles. During the panel, Michael addressed the challenges many companies face in reaching women veterans, women with disabilities, and members of the LGBT community in particular. He shared a few of the strategies Comcast NBCUniversal is using to identify and recruit these talented candidates for tech positions.
This year’s recognitions and our partnership with DiversityInc are a testament to our continued commitment to fostering a culture of inclusion at Comcast NBCUniversal. Diversity & Inclusion are essential to our success, and we consider this a business imperative. The more diverse and inclusive our organization becomes, the better our company becomes – and this is a commitment that will not end.
