Comcast NBCUniversal Donates $1 Million to OneOrlando Fund

By Tom Williams, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Universal Parks & Resorts

The world continues to reflect on the horrible tragedy that occurred in Orlando this past week, home to so many Universal Orlando Resort, Telemundo, Comcast Cable and Golf Channel team members.  On behalf of all those team members, Comcast NBCUniversal is donating $1 million to the OneOrlando Fund.

The fund has been established by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer to assist those affected by this tragedy.  The fund will support  local non-profit organizations mobilizing to help victims and their families, the LGBTQ, Hispanic and all other affected communities – as well as organizations dedicated to solving the underlying causes of events such as this.

The outpouring of solidarity and support in Orlando and across the world has been inspiring.  I also want to acknowledge the partnership and support of other organizations who have made contributions to OneOrlando.  You can learn more about the fund here: www.oneorlando.org.

Like so many other organizations and families in Orlando, those of us at Universal Orlando have lost people who were close to us – team members and members of our extended family.  We are doing everything we can to take care of the families of those we lost and of all our team members as they grieve.  In fact, we will be holding a private remembrance event tonight that will involve Universal theme parks across the globe.

Please join me in continuing to keep all the victims of this tragedy in your thoughts, prayers and actions.
