Comcast NBCUniversal Observes Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with Gripping Accounts from Civil Rights Movement

Comcast NBCUniversal is honoring the civil rights leader with a spotlight on Voices of the Civil Rights Movement, a multimedia collaboration with the Equal Justice Initiative.

Now entering its fourth year, the project celebrates the legacy and impact of Martin Luther King, Jr. and fellow civil rights activists, chronicled in 15 hours of interview footage and historical vignettes.

"I had the honor and privilege of sitting down face-to-face with 72 civil rights leaders, some of whom we’ve lost over the past several years," said Lisa Melillo, Executive Producer, Local Media Development, Comcast. "Working on this project was life-changing. My hope is that viewers will be moved just as much as I was by these stories of unshakeable determination."

Fifty-two stirring historical accounts, in addition to more than 150 interviews with civil rights trailblazers, are available on the Voices of the Civil Rights Movement website. All segments highlight pivotal events leading up to and during the civil rights movement.
