Comcast NBCUniversal Awarded for Commitment to Supplier Diversity

For the tenth time, Comcast NBCUniversal was named among DiversityBusiness.com’s “Top 50 Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities” (Div50).

The Div50 list is comprised of the top 50 companies and organizations that embrace women-owned and minority-owned businesses within their supply chain.

While Comcast NBCUniversal is best known for conducting business-to-consumer transactions for video, high-speed Internet and phone services for residential and businesses customers, the company is also involved in business-to-business transactions.

Our procurement group manages the acquisition of goods and services from other businesses, at the best possible cost. The Supplier Diversity Department is an integrated part of the procurement function and has a mission to increase the presence of diverse businesses within our supply chain for direct contracts at the Tier I level and subcontracting opportunities at the Tier II level.

Comcast’s robust Supplier Diversity Database allows diverse vendors to register their business with our company. To date, more than 3,000 diverse suppliers across the country, spanning nearly every industry, are featured within our portal.

Diverse suppliers provide many benefits to our company, including: innovative solutions to address our business needs, added value for our shareholders, and reduced procurement costs.  Through working with diverse suppliers, Comcast contributes to the creation of jobs and to building wealth within one of the fastest growing segments of our customer base.

Between year-end 2010 and year-end 2013, Comcast NBCUniversal spent more than $3 billion with diverse vendors.
