Comcast & NBCUniversal Employee Resource Groups: Develop, Empower, Impact

Comcast and NBCUniversal Employee Resource Groups work to leverage the strength of our people to drive innovation, bringing employees together for development, understanding and empowerment.

NBCUniversal’s Employee Resource Groups have had a strong and considerable presence within the organization. Since the launch of NBCUniversal’s first group, OUT@NBCUniversal nearly 30 years ago, the roster has expanded to a total of eight groups:

  • Asian Pacific Americans@NBCUniversal
  • Black Employee Network@NBCUniversal
  • MyAbilities Network@NBCUniversal
  • OUT@NBCUniversal
  • Unidos@NBCUniversal
  • Veterans Network@NBCUniversal
  • Women’s Network@NBCUniversal
  • Young Professionals Network@NBCUniversal

Comcast adopted this practice, successfully launching eight Comcast Employee Resource Groups in January of 2012:

  • Asian Pacific Americans@Comcast
  • Black Employee Network@Comcast
  • MyAbilities Network@Comcast
  • OUT@Comcast
  • Unidos@Comcast
  • Veterans Network@Comcast
  • Women’s Network@Comcast
  • Young Professionals Network@Comcast

For Kristin Heffner, Engagement Manager for the Comcast Assurance and Advisory Team, the Women’s Network has been part of her Comcast career from the start. Heffner’s first day at Comcast fell on the week of the Women’s Network inaugural event in June of 2012.

"It was wonderful to see so many of Comcast’s influential women in one location, supporting one another and promoting women’s professional development and growth across the company," Heffner said. Through the Women’s Network, Heffner has expanded her professional network to include women from across all corners of the business.

Within our Employee Resource Groups, we have seen a higher level of employee engagement, an enhanced sense of community and a stronger understanding of the power of inclusion across all levels of the organization.
