Comcast Honored for its Dedication to Military Service Members
In November, Comcast was honored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and National Chamber Foundation with the 2nd Annual Hiring Our Heroes Lee Anderson Award. This award recognizes Comcast’s dedication to addressing the challenges faced by veterans, transitioning service members and military families in their search for meaningful employment.
Comcast is committed to reaching out to the military and veteran communities to attract new talent. The company regularly participates in on-base job-seeking workshops and career fairs for military personnel as they prepare to enter the civilian workforce. Comcast also posts career opportunities on veteran-focused career sites, attends traditional and virtual job fairs targeting the veteran and military community, sponsors veterans-focused events and participates in numerous awareness-raising events at the community level honoring and supporting the military.
In addition to the hundreds of military veterans and reservists already employed at Comcast and NBCUniversal, the company has also pledged to hire 1,000 U.S. veterans over the next three years as part of NBC News’ "Hiring Our Heroes" initiative. Through this effort, Comcast and NBC Universal have already hired hundreds of veterans across the company who are working in a variety of positions, including network engineering, technology, operations, theme parks and resorts, programming, customer service, marketing, human resources, and other careers. Additionally, Comcast is offering its programming resources to help veterans find careers at other employers through the Hire a Veteran On Demand initiative.
Comcast and NBCUniversal have fostered a culture that supports veterans and reservists within its ranks. Veterans are invited to join the Comcast VetNet Affinity Group and NBCUniversal Veterans Network, where veterans can share their stories, resources and receive support. Additionally, Comcast and NBCUniversal participate in a number of programs that support veteran heroes, including annual Holiday Troop Greetings, Operation Gratitude, Wounded Warriors, USA Cares, the Vet Hunters Project and the USO.
Comcast and NBCUniversal share the values of leadership, service, teamwork and ethics that military service members display and is proud to partner with and recognize those who have served our nation.
