Comcast Expands National Rollout of High-Speed 2go By Adding 3g-Only Wireless Data Service
Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK), one of the nation's leading providers of entertainment, information, and communications products and services, today announced the launch of High-Speed 2go™ Nationwide 3G-only service for consumers in Portland, Philadelphia, Seattle, Houston and Boston as the company continues its nationwide rollout of High-Speed 2go.
High-Speed 2go is a mobile Internet solution that provides the fastest available wireless Internet service in the nation via wireless data cards. In addition to offering a fourth-generation, or 4G Metro, wireless service and a Nationwide Preferred 4G/3G wireless service, Comcast is now adding a Nationwide 3G-only wireless service for customers who prefer to have coast-to-coast mobile Internet access. The *NEW* Nationwide 3G service uses a 3G-only data card that operates on Sprint's national 3G network giving customers nationwide wireless service.
Comcast will continue to sell its wireless services bundled with one or more of its popular Internet, phone and video products, providing mobile broadband wherever and whenever customers need to be connected.
"We're excited to offer the new Nationwide 3G-only service plan for High-Speed 2go," said Tom Nagel, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Wireless Services for Comcast. "Consumers want mobile Internet access on-the-go and we are continuing to extend the variety of our service offers so that consumers can choose plans that work best for their needs."
Consumers will have bundled access to both wired and wireless Internet - sold together as a "Fast Pack" for as low as $54.99 per month for one year. Both new and existing Comcast customers will be eligible for special bundled pricing, with Xfinity Internet customers receiving 3G wireless as an add-on for as low as $40 per month.
The Fast Pack Nationwide 3G service includes Comcast's 12 Mbps home Internet service, a free WiFi router for mobility and extended coverage in the home, and nationwide 3G mobile network access.
