Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts Unveils Boston and Hartford Comcast Digital Voice Rollout Plans

Boston, MA

BOSTON, April 13, 2005 - Comcast Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brian L. Roberts today announced that Boston and Hartford, CT are two of the next markets to launch Comcast Digital Voice. Roberts unveiled the company's plan to begin rolling out the service next month during a speech before the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. Boston and Hartford are two of the 20 markets where the product will be available this year.

"Comcast is delivering on its promise to provide customers with a reliable, efficient and innovative voice service that redefines how consumers will use communications to enrich their lives," said Brian L. Roberts, Chairman and CEO of Comcast Corporation.

Comcast Digital Voice is a residential telephone service that travels over the company's privately managed advanced broadband network using IP technology, not the public Internet. This differentiates Comcast's phone service from VoIP providers and enables Comcast to ensure the quality and reliability customers expect from a primary phone service.

Comcast's new phone service uses the same network that delivers Comcast High-Speed Internet, Digital Cable, video on demand, high-definition television and digital video recorders - providing consumers with unmatched choice and control; the simplicity of one bill for all Comcast services; and the convenience of calling one number for customer service.

"Our network serves as a foundation for both today's voice, video and data products, and for future convergence and interactive applications that many have only started to imagine possible," added Roberts.

With this new technology, customers can use their existing phones and phone numbers to make and receive calls, and will soon be able to use Comcast's new Digital Voice Web portal to check voice mail and manage accounts from the Internet.

Comcast Digital Voice offers customers digital quality service that includes unlimited local and domestic long-distance calling, enhanced voice mail features, E911 service and 12 of the most popular calling features (including Call Waiting, Caller ID, 3-Way Calling) for as little as $39.95 per month.

Unlike some voice over Internet providers, Comcast's service includes enhanced 911 functionality, battery backup and 24x7 network monitoring, customer care and technical support. Comcast backs its service with local customer care and trained professional technicians who perform the entire installation.

Comcast plans to reach 20 markets and 15 million homes with this new service in 2005, and all Comcast markets, approximately 40 million homes, by year-end 2006.

Comcast is one of the largest cable telephone providers in the United States, with 1.2 million circuit-switched phone customers and more than seven years of experience in the phone business. The introduction of Comcast Digital Voice in Boston and Hartford will extend the company's existing phone service offering. Comcast currently provides circuit-switched phone service in many New England communities.
