Comcast Business Expands High-Performance Communications Network in North Salt Lake, Utah

Expansion of Comcast’s network provides multi-gigabit ethernet services for area businesses.
Comcast Business today announced the expansion of its advanced network to more than 450 local businesses in North Salt Lake, Utah. A wide range of organizations, representing national chains and locally-owned businesses, will benefit from the new high-performance network, which delivers data, voice and video to support Internet- and cloud-based operations.
"Comcast’s expansion in our area will benefit many local businesses located north of Main Street and west of I-15, which is an important area for our local economy," said Lane Beattie, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce. "Historically, this area has been the backbone of industry in North Salt Lake, dating back to the large oil refineries, and we want to continue the momentum by having access to advanced technology like Comcast."
The high-capacity network will provide businesses in North Salt Lake with the ability to access the Internet at speeds up to 10 Gigabits per second (Gpbs), meeting the network needs of local organizations today and well into the future. This area of North Salt Lake is home to more than 450 businesses, including Bridgewater International and TDJ Finishings.
"We were really excited when we learned that Comcast Business was bringing their services to our area," said Jonathan Davis at B Space Salon. "Our internet WiFi speeds have increased drastically and customers love this. The new voicemail service is also an added benefit. There are many features available to me that I have not had before."
Companies and other organizations in the area will now have access to Comcast’s comprehensive portfolio of Ethernet services, including Ethernet Dedicated Internet, Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line and Ethernet Network Service, that provide dedicated Internet access, point-to-point, and point-to-multipoint service. Local firms will also be able to deploy Comcast Business VoiceEdge™, a cloud-based voice and unified communications solution designed to improve business communications with enhanced mobility.

All of Comcast Business’ multi-Gigabit Ethernet services are delivered over an advanced network that spans 145,000 miles and features a 100 Gbps backbone and expanded local footprint through Ethernet over HFC. Bandwidth is available up to 10 Gbps and can be scaled in increments and offered in three different classes of service, backed by strict service level agreements and monitored 24x7x365 from Comcast’s dedicated Network Operations Centers. Comcast was the first service provider in the world to offer Metro Ethernet Forum CE 2.0 certified Ethernet services and was also the first service provider to achieve all three of the previous CE 1.0 certifications (MEF 9, 14 and 18).
