Comcast Announces Move Toward Unified, Intelligent IP Provisioning with Selection of JacobsRimell Platform

London, United Kingdom

JacobsRimell today announced that it will be the provisioning provider for Comcast Corporation, focusing on advanced, next-generation solutions that leverage its award-winning APS technology. This agreement brings two leading companies together to help simplify and speed the delivery of new video, voice and data services to customers. JacobsRimell is a leading provider of identity-based service provisioning and activation software for cable, mobile and telecommunications service providers. Comcast Corporation is the United States' leading cable and broadband communications provider, with over 21 million customers. JacobsRimell's Service Provider Operating System adds a new level of intelligence to Comcast's IP infrastructure layer. It will serve as a provisioning foundation for all of Comcast's service offerings. Provisioning allows the translation of a customer order, whether it be by phone, Internet or otherwise, into actual service for that customer. By providing a single, unified integration point via the JacobsRimell platform, Comcast can simplify and enhance the experience of ordering a bundled service offering. Databases, billing, and other pertinent information can be combined across multiple platforms including the following to create a seamless customer experience: video, high-speed Internet access, voice-over-IP telephony, e-Commerce, games, communities and content personalization.

"The role of service management applications will continue to grow in importance as operators continue to deploy new services," said David Fellows, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Comcast Cable. "JacobsRimell's technology will better enable Comcast to increase our speed to market, reduce operational costs and decrease capital expenditure while improving customer satisfaction."

"The winners in the war for consumer loyalty and spend will be companies which are able to deliver attractive bundles of services for each customer," explained George Shanks, Chief Executive Officer, JacobsRimell. "Comcast's cross platform provisioning strategy puts them in an ideal position to do this quickly and at low cost as new service offerings are developed."

"The future of the media industry is trending towards 'the audience of one,'" said David Jacobs, founder and CTO, JacobsRimell. "Our APS solution provides Comcast with the capabilities and tools to provision individual subscribers with targeted bundles of services irrespective of their underlying technology. This relieves the business throttle to innovation existing in previous BSS/OSS approaches." Comcast has also made a strategic investment of over $5 million to support JacobsRimell's continued development of its award-winning APS technology.
