Ambitious Programming Leads Telemundo to Second-Consecutive Weekly Ratings Win
For a second consecutive week, Telemundo ranked as the No.1 Spanish-language broadcast network among key adult demos in the 10-11pm time slot with its super series El Señor de los Cielos (Lord of the Skies) averaging 1,369,000 adults 18 to 49 and 608,000 adults 18 to 34, according to Nielsen.
Starring Rafael Amaya as Aurelio Casillas, the original series outperformed Univision’s La Malquerida at 10 p.m. among adults 18 to 49 (1.37M vs. 1.20M, +14 percent) and adults 18 to 34 (608K vs. 536K, +13 percent).
Telemundo also ranked as the No. 2 broadcast network, regardless of language, in the same Monday toFriday time slot among adults 18 to 49 and 18 to 34 surpassing English-language networks such as ABC and CBS.
Produced by Telemundo Studios and filmed by Argos Television, El Señor de los Cielos is one of the network’s most ambitious productions to date. The series is a fictional and action-filled story loaded with raw passion and emotions, untold luxury, suffering, intrigue and suspense.
Inspired by true events, El Señor de los Cielos tells the story of Aurelio Casillas, one of the most prominent Mexican drug lords from the 90s, whose ambition was to become one of the richest and most powerful men in Mexico.
