Transformers Ride Thrills Fans at Universal Studios Hollywood

"Transformers: The Ride — 3D" is one of the hottest new attractions at Universal Studios. The ride opened in May 2012 at Universal Studios Hollywood and debuted in December 2011 at Universal Studios Singapore. A third installation of the popular 3-D ride is coming to Universal’s theme park in Orlando in the summer of 2013.

Based on the electrifying Transformers blockbuster movie franchise and celebrated for its multigenerational appeal, inventive storyline, spectacular action sequences and ingenious special effects, "Transformers: The Ride — 3D" breaks new ground in the world of theme park attractions, stretching the medium’s potential as a powerfully engaging storytelling vehicle.

Featuring an adrenalized multi-level ride track, visceral special effects, one of the most elaborate flight simulation ride systems ever created and the highest, most sophisticated resolution of high-definition 3-D technology available, "Transformers: The Ride — 3D" propels guests into the dynamic, action-packed robotic world of Transformers.

The ride is a monumental masterpiece created by Hollywood heavyweights, including Oscar-winning director Michael Bay, the visionary special-effects masterminds at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), the Transformers brand stewards at Hasbro, Inc. and the award-winning, progressive minds at Universal Creative.

The visionary creative team behind "Transformers: The Ride — 3D" had this to say:

"Transformers: The Ride — 3D will envelop the audience and make them feel like they’re in it, that they’re in the midst of these robots. It’s quite an exciting experience. I wish we could do this with movies."

— Michael Bay, Award-winning filmmaker and director of the Transformers film series

"We’ve found the way to do it is go to the source. Get the people that really get it. Bring in their expertise. Combined with our history of ride technology and immersive environments, that’s the recipe for success."

— Mark Woodbury, President, Universal Creative

"This is the most complex and technically challenging project we have ever worked on."

— Jeff White, Visual Effects Supervisor, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM)

"What Michael Bay and Universal Studios are creating with this ride is an experience where guests encounter missile blasts, dodge robots punches, travel through explosions and gas clouds, fly through the air…"

— Delio Tramontozzi, Visual Effects and Animation, Industrial Light & Magic (ILM)

Each year, millions of guests visit Universal’s theme parks in Florida, California, Singapore and Japan to experience thrilling world-famous attractions that combine the most beloved stories and characters from film and television with innovative ride and show technology.

In addition to "Transformers: The Ride — 3D," other exciting new attractions include "King Kong 360 3-D," created by Oscar-winning writer, producer and director Peter Jackson, at Universal Hollywood, The "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" at Universal Orlando, an entire themed environment that includes three cutting-edge attractions, shops and a restaurant based on the Harry Potter movies, and "Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem," also at Universal Hollywood, which takes park-goers on a 3-D adventure to become a minion just like in the hit movie Despicable Me.
