NBCUniversal Introduces ‘The More You Know’ eBook
NBCUniversal’s Emmy-award-winning public service campaign, The More You Know, has just released its first educational eBook entitled Growing Up Online. This free, interactive eBook aligns with the evolving ways people consume media in order to educate parents, teachers and kids about navigating the digital world safely and responsibly.
Children are growing up at a time when technology is at their fingertips. Recognizing the critical need to teach them how to use technology responsibly and safely, NBCUniversal, in collaboration with NBC News, released Growing Up Online,which can be accessed on multiple tablet devices or online. The eBook is a unique, fun, and important free resource to be used as a tool for parents and teachers to talk about Internet safety. It features tips for getting connected to your kids’ online world, tracking techniques, a digital literacy glossary of terms, engaging comic book videos for kids and much more.
According to Common Sense Media, half of all kids under the age of eight use Internet-connected devices and one in three kids have experienced cyber bullying.While the Internet is an amazing tool that gives children access to limitless information, Growing Up Online encourages parents to have an open dialogue with their children about how to use the Internet safely. In addition, utilizing tools such as parental controls is another great way to ensure that children are safely surfing the web.
