Through our Internet Essentials program, Comcast has helped over 160,000 low-income Americans get online and bring the power of the Internet directly to their homes. When we first established Internet Essentials, we knew that helping to close the digital divide would mean more than just offering low-cost computers and Internet service at a reduced rate. We realized it would also be necessary to provide digital literacy training to help people use the Internet and introduce them to the many valuable resources it has to offer such as job search tools, education and healthcare information.

I'm happy to announce that we are continuing to enhance our digital literacy education and awareness efforts by launching a new and improved "Learning Center" on the Internet Essentials Website. The enhanced Learning Center is available to everyone (not just Internet Essentials customers) and includes a refreshed design that features a virtual guided tour for easier navigation, a new social media section with tips and new digital literacy education videos. These informative and short videos cover topics like How to Search the Web, Email Basics, Educational Resources/Homework Helper; Health Care Resources; Introduction to Social Media, Online Job Search Tools and Online Safety. They feature some of NBC's "Today" Show talent including: Al Roker, Sara Haines and Jenna Wolfe. Other TV talent showcased in the videos include: Telemundo's Jose Diaz-Balart, MSNBC's Thomas Roberts and NBC's Kate Snow and Joelle Garguilo. Additional videos from NBC Learn, the educational arm of NBC News, are also now available on the Learning Center and focus on safety and security topics ranging from spam and spyware to cyberbullying.

Speaking of safety, we have also enhanced the Internet safety and security software that is provided for free with Internet Essentials to include the Constant Guard Protection Suite, which includes top-rated Norton Security software, password safeguards and identity theft protection software.

As we continue to further enhance Internet Essentials by bringing the Internet to more families and homes across America, we are excited to expand our digital literacy education and training efforts and look forward to providing more valuable resources in the future.
