HBO and Cinemax are the latest additions to our new On Demand Online trial. This means a ton of great content from both networks will be available online nationally at no additional cost to HBO and Cinemax subscribers, for the first time ever. The list of shows and movies that will be available is enough to make any HBO and Cinemax fan smile:
- Full-length episodes HBO series like True Blood®, Hung℠, Entourage®, Curb Your Enthusiasm®, The Wire®, Sex and the City®, The Sopranos® and Real Time with Bill Maher.
- Movies including Transformers, The Dark Knight, Tropic Thunder, Atonement, Brokeback Mountain, Michael Clayton, Shrek the Third, Kung Fu Panda, Get Smart, The Bourne Ultimatum, The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Titles coming soon include: Juno, Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears A Who, Mama Mia! and Burn After Reading.
- Classic films such as Jurassic Park, Big, Mrs. Doubtfire, Speed and Rosemary’s Baby.
Both networks will continue to offer more programs including series, documentaries, and comedy specials over the course of time. They will also be adding HD content in the future. Plus most of the programming will be available online immediately after premiering on television.
Our On Demand Online trial already includes lots of content from Starz and TNT/TBS, and we’re happy to make HBO and Cinemax content available online as well. The trial will involve about 5,000 Comcast video customers from around the nation who will help us test our authentication technology (which ensures people get access to the content they are subscribed to).
This news about HBO and Cinemax follows our announcement a couple of weeks ago about a set of principles called TV Everywhere that are designed to help bring more video content online. Check out this blog post for a full list of the principles.
