Comcast Extends Free Calls, Adds Free Texting to Philippines
Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the devastating typhoon in the Philippines – the victims, their families and their loved ones. To help unite families and friends in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, Comcast will provide free calls to the Philippines for its 10.5 million Xfinity Voice residential customers. This will apply to calls made to the Philippines by customers between November 8th and November 30, 2013. Credits and waived fees will be automatic and no action will be required by customers.
Additionally, starting today we will include free texting to Philippines. The texting will not be retroactive, but will be on a go-forward basis through Nov 30th. Free texting is available only through the Xfinity Connect app.
We’re also expanding our offer to help customers stay better connected to news and updates in the wake of the storm by providing more access to the TV networks on the ground in the Philippines. We’ve worked with the Filipino Channel and are now offering its network available without subscription to all Xfinity TV digital customers an additional two weeks - through November 30, in areas where the channel is currently carried. We’ve also partnered with GMA Pinoy, another Filipino-based news network, to offer their channel to all Xfinity TV digital customers (in markets where its available) through November 30.
