Comcast Goes Back to School at 60 College Campuses This Year
According to Deloitte’s Digital Democracy Survey, about three quarters of millennials stream TV shows or movies on devices at least once a month. That’s one of the reasons we launched Xfinity on Campus two years ago: so college students on campus could have greater flexibility to watch their favorite programs on phones, tablets and laptops.
Today, we’re announcing that 36 new schools have joined the program, more than eight times the number we launched with in 2014, bringing the total to 63 Xfinity on Campus locations across the country.
Among the new schools are Northeastern University, University of Notre Dame, Temple University, University of Michigan, University of Pennsylvania, University of Southern Mississippi and Villanova University. For the complete list of schools click here.
Along with new schools, we’ve also improved the product. This year, we’ve added a cloud DVR to the service at no additional cost, allowing students to record up to 20 hours of shows like The Walking Dead, 30 for 30, Scandal, Inside Amy Schumer and more. We’ve also consolidated our services into one Xfinity TV app – giving students one place to watch their Xfinity on Campus line-up while on campus, as well as TV Everywhere content when they are anywhere else in the country.
Here’s what some of our newest Xfinity on Campus schools have to say about the service:
"The days of students and parents lugging TVs up flights of stairs are part of the past," said John Wall, Director of Media Relations at Juniata College. "Comcast’s new service offers student ease of use on all their technology."
"Lock Haven University is excited to partner with Comcast in offering enhanced media options to our students. Flexibility is of increasing importance in today’s digital marketplace, especially for busy college students. Xfinity on Campus will give LHU students a range of services designed to fit their college lifestyle," said Rodney Jenkins, Vice President, University Relations, Lock Haven University.
"We recognize the importance of providing our students with innovative technologies that enhance their time outside of the classroom," said Mayumi Hirtzel from University of Pennsylvania’s Information Systems & Computing Department. "The Xfinity On Campus service is one of the latest amenities we have provided to make our students’ campus experience more convenient and enjoyable."
"The Xfinity On Campus service enables Stonehill students to access all the latest news, events, and educational programming on TV from their computers and mobile devices wherever they are on campus," said Tamara Anderson, Chief Information Officer at Stonehill College. "Our students are extremely busy with their studies along with their jobs, sports, clubs, and service experiences. They are very excited to be able to watch their favorite programs on live TV, Video On Demand, and through their cloud DVR whenever and wherever they find time to relax."

"Comcast, with their Xfinity on Campus offering, provides USM with an advantage recruiting resident students," said Keith Hill, Director of Operations and Infrastructure at the University of Southern Mississippi. "This new offering is delivered at an appealing price, and conversations with select students about the XoC transition reveals they are ecstatic. I look forward to seeing the overall reaction at Southern Miss."
"We are glad to offer this benefit to our students," said York College’s Chief Information Officer Ilya Yakovlev. "It will help them access the programming on a variety of devices wherever they are."
We continue to create video experiences that are tailored to the way people want to watch TV. The appeal of Xfinity on Campus is that it lets students watch TV when and where they want, on the device of their choice. We think we’ve built one of the best college TV services in the country and look forward to adding even more schools in 2017.
