Today we celebrated our 12th Comcast Cares Day, and what a fantastic day it was. All across the country, Comcast and NBCUniversal employees, their family members and friends worked together to plant gardens, beautify schools, repair community centers, clean riverbanks, and much more in their communities. We are thrilled that Comcast Cares Day expanded internationally this year with project sites in England, France, Germany, New Zealand, Australia and Singapore.

This is a milestone year for our company as we celebrate our 50th anniversary and several Comcast Cares Day achievements. Today, more than 85,000 employees, along with their friends and families and our community partners, volunteered at more than 750 project sites across the country and abroad, helping us achieve more than three million service hours and over 500,000 volunteers since Comcast Cares Day was founded in 2001.

In Highlands, New Jersey, more than 250 volunteers joined the TODAY’s Dylan Dreyer and community partners to help rebuild the borough that was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Click on the video above to learn more about the tremendous impact we were able to have on this town by cleaning local parks, restoring two local restaurants and homes, planting flowers and repairing the boardwalk.

Today could not have been possible without the help of our many wonderful partners, including City Year, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the National Urban League and the National Council of La Raza. Our hope is that the work we have done today, and throughout the year, will have a lasting and meaningful impact on these communities.
