This Sunday I have a date (with my couch and slippers) to watch the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards. It is my time to get a glimpse of who everyone is wearing, and of course root for my favorite shows and actors to take home the coveted award.

Year after year I'm disappointed because I haven't had the time to watch many of the nominated shows due to my hectic schedule (not to mention the fact that my husband and three year old typically dictate what we watch: I end up watching a lot of sports and preschool programming). This year I'm doing a bit of "prep work" before the big night with the help of my Comcast On Demand service and checking out some of the nominated programs that I've missed over the past year.

This summer, while my favorite shows were either in reruns or have ended, I watched the first three seasons of the AMC's hit show Mad Men On Demand. I now understand what all the fuss is about and why the show has been nominated for an impressive 17 Emmys - including lead actor, lead actress and outstanding drama series. I've become a fan of the show, and haven't missed a single episode of season four thanks to On Demand and my DVR.

Currently, you can catch up with 40 Emmy-nominated shows On Demand; including CBS's The Good Wife; Showtime's Nurse Jackie and Weeds; HBO's True Blood and Curb Your Enthusiasm; and NBC's The Office, and 30 Rock.

I'm just about ready for the big night, but even if you aren't planning on watching the Emmys, you can still check out some of the nominated programs on demand. Who knows, you might just find a new favorite.
