our progress

Internet Essentials is about far more than just bringing Internet service into a home. It's also about designing a program that addresses the three main barriers to broadband adoption: 1) digital literacy, or the lack of a perceived need for, or even fear of, the Internet, 2) the lack of a computer, and, 3) the monthly cost of service. Internet Essentials is the only program of its kind that addresses each of these barriers head on.

Digital literacy is the most important facilitator of getting people connected. Comcast has invested more than $650 million in digital literacy training and awareness, reaching more than 9.5 million people.

An Internet connection is only as good as the device by which it is accessed. Comcast has provided low-income Americans with 100,000 affordable subsidized computers throughout the program’s history.
