XFINITY On Demand: Now Home to Top 100 Nielsen Rated TV Shows

Philadelphia, PA.

Comcast adds more of the current TV shows viewers are buzzing about, including access to all of Nielsen’s top 100 cable and broadcast shows.

Comcast today announced that Xfinity TV customers can now access all of Nielsen’s top 100 cable and broadcast shows via Xfinity On Demand. As video on demand usage becomes an increasingly large portion of time-shifted viewing, Comcast has added even more current season content to its platform. Of the top 100 shows, which include hits like Bates Motel, The Blacklist, The Following, Modern Family and Scandal, 64 are available across all devices via the Xfinity TV Go app and website.

"There is an abundance of quality television available right now and Xfinity On Demand is becoming a unique destination for TV lovers who want to catch up and keep up with all the top shows," said Matt Strauss, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Video Services, Comcast Cable.  "We remain focused on giving customers access to the highest quality and most current content, anytime and anywhere they want it."

Since 2011, hours spent viewing TV content on Xfinity On Demand has increased nearly 75 percent, from 149 million hours to 259 million hours in 2014. In fact, 72 percent of customers have viewed TV content on Xfinity On Demand and it’s now the number one category on the platform with 40 percent of total views, surpassing kids, movies and music.

According to a recent online survey by Harris Poll on behalf of Comcast, over half of binge-watchers would rather watch current season episodes (55%) over past season.[1] This was also the case in some of the country’s largest cities as binge-watchers in Washington, DC (66%), Philadelphia (62%), San Francisco (62%), Houston (61%), L.A. (59%), Chicago (59%) and Boston (58%) prefer the shows people are talking about right now.

With Xfinity On Demand, Xfinity TV customers get each of the season’s top shows automatically preloaded and saved as part of their digital subscription. Shows are conveniently organized so viewers can go back in time with the click of the remote to easily find and catch-up on the hottest shows for free. For many of the top TV choices, such as Chicago Fire, Dancing with the Stars, Fargo, and The Mindy Project, customers can find every episode from the current season on Xfinity On Demand.
